# Hand grades back to students

## Quick answer

Open Responses and finish every required review. Select Hand back to students, read the Hand back grades? confirmation, and select Make grades viewable. Students then see results on the same Fiveable link they used for the assignment.

## What to do

1. **Finish reviews**: Use Need your review to confirm that required student decisions are complete.

2. **Select Hand back to students**: The action appears when manual-release grades are ready.

3. **Check the confirmation**: Hand back grades? explains that grades and feedback will become viewable on the student side.

4. **Select Make grades viewable**: Wait for the Handed back confirmation.

5. **Check the assignment row**: Assignments now treats the set as handed back and shows the result summary instead of an active review pipeline.

## What students see

Students return through the same assignment link and account to see the score and feedback. Email notifications may be unavailable or paused, so do not rely on an email as proof of release.

## If something is not working

### Hand back to students is missing.

Confirm the assignment has submissions with manual result release and that the required reviews are complete. Immediate-release assignments do not need this step.

### One student still cannot see results.

Confirm the student is signed in to the same account used for submission and is opening the original assignment link.
