# Create or change your password

## Quick answer

Open Account > Change Password. A Google-only account shows Create password; an account that already has an email/password login shows Change password. Complete the fields shown and select Create password or Update password.

## What to do

1. **Sign in**: Use your current Google or email/password method to open the account securely.

2. **Open Change Password**: Open [Change Password](/account?tab=change-password) in Account.

3. **Complete the fields**: For a change, enter Current password, New password, and Confirm new password. For a Google-only account, create and confirm the new password shown on the page.

4. **Use at least eight characters**: The password must be at least eight characters, and the confirmation must match exactly.

5. **Save**: Select Update password or Create password. Your Google link remains available when you add a password to a Google-only account.

## If something is not working

### I do not know my current password.

Use Forgot Password instead of Change Password. If the account is Google-only, sign in with Google and use Create password.

### The confirmation does not match.

Re-enter New password and Confirm new password. Check capitalization and any password-manager autofill before saving.
