# How Fiveable Content Is Made and Checked

## Overview

Study guides and key terms on Fiveable are credited to the Fiveable Content Team. This page explains who that is, how the content is made, and what is checked before and after it reaches students.

Last reviewed October 2026.

## Who builds the content

The Fiveable Content Team is Amanda DoAmaral and Becky Bahr. Amanda founded Fiveable in 2018 after teaching AP World History and AP Human Geography, and she has been an AP World History Reader. Becky is also a former teacher. Both have worked on Fiveable content for more than six years.

From years of teaching and building Fiveable, they know the AP courses, the exam formats, and how AP exams are scored. They design the systems that generate and check content across all AP subjects.

They are not subject experts in every course, and pages are not reviewed line by line by a specialist in each subject. The checks below are how content is held to a consistent standard across subjects.

Study guides and key terms are credited to the team. Guides about picking AP classes and planning for exams, and comparisons with other study tools, carry Amanda's name because she writes and reviews those herself.

## How the content is made

Fiveable's first study guides were written by hundreds of students and teachers. Today most new and updated content is generated with AI, and we see that as a strength.

Content is organized by AP unit and topic, so it lines up with what students cover in class. Generation runs as multi-step workflows with subject-specific instructions, not a single prompt. When a newer model does a job better, we regenerate the affected content instead of only using it going forward.

Practice questions and FRQs are written by Fiveable. They are not copied or adapted from College Board's copyrighted questions.

## What is checked today

Three kinds of checks run on the library:

- Automated evaluations. Study guides, practice questions, FRQs, and rewritten key term pages are scored by automated evaluations. A practice question or FRQ that fails is held back from practice sets, practice exams, assignments, and search. Some teacher tools use only items that passed.
- Error reports from students and teachers. Anyone can report an error from a study guide, key term, or question. An AI triage step reads the report alongside the content it points to. Clear, specific corrections are applied automatically. Anything unclear goes to our team, and technical bugs go to engineering. Most reports are resolved quickly. Automatic fixes are checked again afterward, and a fix that the second check doesn't confirm goes back to a person.
- FRQ scoring is measured. Teachers review every classroom score before students see it, and what they keep and change is published on the grading quality page.

## What “Verified for the 2027 exam” means

AP study guides and key terms show “Verified for the 2027 exam.” It means our team has checked the subject's units, topics, and exam format against College Board's published course and exam description for that exam year. From June onward the label names the next exam year.

It is a check of the subject, not a review of each page. A page can still contain an error, and reporting it is the fastest way to get it fixed.

## What's next

We are building a deeper audit of the library, subject by subject, with a record of what was checked and when, so the “Verified” label can point to that evidence.
