# Fiveable AP Score Survey Results & Methodology

## Overview

In Fiveable's voluntary 2026 survey, 96.5% of valid AP exam scores reported by respondents were qualifying scores of 3 or higher. The average reported score was 4.27, and 83.8% of reported scores were 4s or 5s.

## 2026 Results

## Analysis

The clearest difference is at the top of the distribution. Scores of 5 accounted for 47.1% of valid scores reported in Fiveable's survey, compared with 17.8% in the subject-matched national distribution. Scores of 4 or 5 made up 83.8% of the Fiveable survey distribution.

Scores of 1 or 2 accounted for 3.5% of valid scores reported in Fiveable's survey, compared with 28.3% in the subject-matched national distribution. From 2025 to 2026, the qualifying-score rate increased 1.1 percentage points, the share of 4s and 5s increased 4.0 points, and the average reported score increased from 4.16 to 4.27. Different respondents opted into each annual survey, so these changes are directional.

## Methodology

The survey was public, voluntary, and shared with Fiveable users after 2026 AP scores were released. A login and paid subscription were not required. Each response could include more than one exam, so the pass rate is the share of valid reported exam scores from 1 through 5 that were 3 or higher. It is not the percentage of individual students who passed every exam.

The national comparison weights College Board's official 2026 score distribution for each AP subject to the same mix of AP subjects reported in Fiveable's survey. The qualifying benchmark is the weighted share of national scores from 3 through 5.

The survey is self-reported, self-selected, and not independently verified. It does not establish that Fiveable caused higher scores and should not be treated as representative of every Fiveable user. Public results contain aggregate percentages only and exclude response counts, personal information, demographic breakdowns, and free-response answers.

## 2025 Results

- Qualifying scores of 3 or higher: 95.4%.

- Scores of 4 or 5: 79.8%.

- Average reported score: 4.16.

The core score-level calculation is comparable across 2025 and 2026, but differences in who chose to respond make year-over-year changes directional.
