Definition
The United States of America after 1917, a period marked by its emergence as a global superpower. This era saw the US's involvement in two World Wars and the start of the Cold War.

Cold War: A period of geopolitical tension between powers in the Eastern Bloc (the Soviet Union and its satellite states) and powers in the Western Bloc (the United States, its NATO allies and others).
Isolationism: A policy or doctrine advocating that a nation should stay out of disputes and affairs of other nations. The U.S largely followed this policy before entering World War I.
