The Union Pacific Railroad is a freight hauling railroad that was commissioned by Congress in 1862 to build part of the Transcontinental Railroad from Nebraska westward.
Central Pacific Railroad: This company built the eastern portion of the Transcontinental Railroad, starting in California. They were essentially the other half of our 'group project'.
Railroad Act of 1862: This act provided federal support for the construction of the First Transcontinental Railroad. It's like if your teacher gave you resources and guidelines for your group project.
Promontory Point, Utah: This is where the Union Pacific and Central Pacific railroads met, completing the first transcontinental route. It's like finally presenting your finished group project after all your hard work!
