Farmers' Alliance: An organized agrarian economic movement among American farmers that developed in the 1870s. Like The Grange, it aimed to improve conditions for farmers.
Agricultural Adjustment Act (AAA): A federal law passed in 1933 as part of New Deal response to Great Depression which aimed to boost agricultural prices by reducing surpluses; similar goals as those pursued by The Grange.
Rural Free Delivery (RFD): A service introduced by U.S. Post Office Department in late 19th century to deliver mail directly to rural farm families; an initiative supported by organizations like The Grange.
