Intersectional Feminism

Definition

Intersectional feminism is the understanding of how women's overlapping identities — including race, class, ethnicity, religion, and sexual orientation — impact the way they experience oppression and discrimination.

Patriarchy: A social system in which power is held by men, through cultural norms and customs that favor men and withhold opportunity from women.

Privilege: Unearned advantages enjoyed by people who fit into dominant societal groups based on aspects like race, gender etc.

Microaggressions: Everyday verbal or nonverbal slights or insults which communicate hostile messages to people based upon their marginalized group membership.
