The Hull House was a settlement house in Chicago, co-founded by Jane Addams and Ellen Gates Starr in 1889. It provided social and educational opportunities for working class people (many of them immigrants) in the surrounding neighborhood.

Immigration: The process of moving to a foreign country with intentions to live there permanently. In this context, it refers to the influx of immigrants into urban areas during the late 19th century.
Social Services: Services provided by government or non-profit organizations to help improve the lives of those in need. This includes education programs, health care services, and housing assistance.
