John Cabot was an Italian explorer and navigator who is credited with discovering parts of North America under the commission of Henry VII of England in the late 15th century.
Henry VII: The King of England from 1485 to 1509 who commissioned John Cabot's voyages.
Age of Discovery: A period from the early 15th century and continuing into the early 17th century during which Europeans engaged in intensive exploration of the world, establishing direct contacts with Africa, Americas, Asia and Oceania.
New World: A term used by Europeans to describe the Americas after their discovery by explorers in the Age of Discovery.
