The Gorgon breastplate, also known as Gorgoneion or Medusa's head, refers to a protective amulet or decoration featuring the face of Medusa. It was believed to ward off evil spirits and provide protection.
Amulet: An amulet is an object believed to have magical powers or bring good luck. It is worn or carried by individuals for protection against harm.
Talisman: Similar to an amulet, a talisman is an object thought to possess supernatural powers that bring good fortune or protect against evil.
Medusa: Medusa was a Gorgon in Greek mythology with snakes for hair. Her gaze could turn people to stone, and her head became a symbol of protection against evil forces.
