Definition

A pro-natalist policy encourages people to have more children. Governments may use these policies to increase birth rates and population size.

Related terms

Anti-Natalist Policy: This is opposite of pro-natalist policy; it discourages births in order to slow down population growth.

Population Pyramid: A graphical representation showing age-sex distribution in a particular region which can be influenced by pro-natalist policies.

Demographic Transition Model (DTM): A model that describes population change over time; governments may implement pro-natalist policies depending on the stage of DTM their country is in.
