These are the heads of the executive departments of the federal government. They serve as advisors to the President and play key roles in implementing his policies.
Executive Departments: These are the main organizations through which the work of the federal government is done. There are currently 15 executive departments, each headed by a member of the president's cabinet.
Secretary: This is what we call most heads of executive departments. For example, we have a Secretary of Defense and a Secretary of Education.
Line Succession: The order in which officials fill the office of president in case of a vacancy.
