White Army

Definition

The White Army, also known as the Whites, was a loose confederation of Anti-Communist forces that fought the Bolsheviks, or Red Army, in the Russian Civil War (1917–1922) and to a lesser extent continued operating as militarized associations both outside and within Russian borders until roughly World War II.

Romanov Line: This refers to the second and last imperial dynasty to rule over Russia. It began with Tsar Michael I in 1613 and ended with Nicholas II's abdication during the Russian Revolution in 1917.

Red Army: The army and air force of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic which later became known as Soviet Union's military. It was established immediately after the October Revolution in 1917 by Lenin and Trotsky.

Russian Civil War: A multi-party war that took place from November 1917 until October 1922 primarily between Bolshevik Red Army and several anti-Bolshevik (White) armies.
