Satellite nations were countries that were under heavy political, economic, and military influence or control from another country. During Cold War, this term was used primarily to refer to Central and Eastern European countries under USSR's influence.
Warsaw Pact: A collective defense treaty among eight communist states of Central and Eastern Europe during Cold War. It’s like a group of friends promising to defend each other if someone picks on them.
Domino Theory: The theory that if one nation comes under Communist control, then neighboring nations will also come under Communist control. It's like a line of dominoes; knock one over and the rest follow.
Containment: A United States policy using numerous strategies to prevent the spread of communism abroad. It’s like a quarantine, trying to keep a virus (in this case, communism) from spreading.
