Energy from biomass refers to using organic materials derived from plants or animals (biomass) to produce heat, electricity, or fuel. This can include wood, crop residues, animal manure, and dedicated energy crops.
Biofuel: A type of fuel derived from biomass that is used as an alternative to traditional fossil fuels.
Anaerobic Digestion: The process where microorganisms break down organic materials in the absence of oxygen, producing biogas (a mixture of methane and carbon dioxide).
Carbon Neutral: A state where the net release of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere is zero because any emissions are balanced by an equivalent amount being removed or offset elsewhere.
