Carbon monoxide is a colorless and odorless gas produced by incomplete combustion of fossil fuels. It is highly toxic and can interfere with the ability of red blood cells to carry oxygen throughout the body.
Combustion: The process of burning fuel that produces carbon monoxide as a byproduct when there isn't enough oxygen present.
Carboxyhemoglobin: A compound formed when carbon monoxide binds with hemoglobin in red blood cells, preventing them from carrying sufficient amounts of oxygen.
Indoor Air Pollution: Sources such as faulty heating systems or improperly ventilated appliances can release carbon monoxide into indoor spaces, posing health risks if not detected and addressed.
