Lipids are organic compounds that are fatty acids or their derivatives and are insoluble in water but soluble in organic solvents. They include many natural oils, waxes, and steroids.
Triglycerides: An ester derived from glycerol and three fatty acids. They are the main constituents of body fat in humans and other animals.
Phospholipids: A class of lipids that are a major component of all cell membranes as they can form lipid bilayers.
Steroids: A type of lipid characterized by a carbon skeleton with four fused rings, commonly found in hormones, body cells, and some vitamins.
